The “EcoDay” ecology initiative took place in Mickunai Gymnasium, in Vilnius region. The aim of the initiative was to train the 10-11 grade pupils about climate change, environmental issues, and their possible solutions. The initiative was divided into three parts: 1) the Ecology Quiz, 2) discussion about environmental issues using tasks from Carbon Conversations course, 3) cleaning the environment while gathering trash. Firstly, participating students were divided into 4 groups. Each group had to answer the questions from Ecology Quiz. All of the questions were related to ecology. During the quiz, participants had the opportunity to test their knowledge about environmental issues as well as the facts from biology subject. In the end, all of the pupils received certificates and first place winners were awarded. The main aim of the second part was to encourage students to discuss ecology issues, such as responsibility for climate change, natural resources, waste recycling, food waste, ecological transport, and consumerism. Participants were invited to complete some of the Carbon Conversations tasks. Lastly, the whole gymnasium has joined the clean-up action “DAROM 2019”. The initiative organizers have joined the 10-grade students and their teachers to gather the trash from the nearby forest.
